During the Casket Affair in January 2551, Ulan was assigned to Task Force Bravo. They travelled to Daego to search for one of the Casket weapons. Upon arriving at the planet, he was placed in Bravo Team Three along with the leader of the Task Force, Brian Hartley.
While the two ODSTs were investigating a jungle, Hartley was attacked by a Stealth Sangheili wielding an energy sword. Ulan opened fire on the Elite immediately, killing it and saving Hartley. Later, Ulan found Hartley's brother in an abandoned, half-destroyed city. The trio made their way back to their Pelican and abandoned the planet along with the other human forces.

Task Force Bravo soon travelled to New Jerusalem, to search for more Caskets. After their dropship was shot down, Ulan and the rest of Bravo made their way to the city of Tzab Shveh, destroying a massive Covenant energy shield in the process. Inside the city, they found the Forerunner complex known as the Armoury, and met the experimental SPARTAN-I DAB-101. They later evacuated New Jerusalem and returned to Reach.
Skirmish for the RequisitionEdit

After Bravo arrived at Reach, they boarded the prowler UNSC Silent Blade and used it to get to the stolen Covenant CSO-class supercarrier Requisition of Prosperity, in order to recover the Forerunner artefacts it held. On the way they were ambushed by a small Covenant fleet, and Ulan helped Bravo board a Covenant supercruiser and destroy it from the inside. Once all the Covenant ships were destroyed, Ulan and the rest of Bravo regrouped with the UNSC Sixth Battle Group.
Expedition to Cyrus VIIEdit

Ulan was once again part of Bravo when the Task Force was sent to the planet Cyrus VII. Shortly after arriving at the planet, Bravo planned to ambush a pack of Jiralhanae in a forest. However, Ulan stepped on a twig, alerting a Brute Chieftain of his presence. The Chieftain then proceeded to crush Ulan with its gravity hammer.
Personality and TraitsEdit
Ulan was rather peaceful and friendly, and was able to stay calm even in life-or-death situations. He also had very good leadership skills, and was quickly promoted to Staff Sergeant because of this. His death greatly affected his comrades, especially Brian Hartley.
