As the USS Almayer makes its way through space, a computer in the hypersleep bay lights up, displaying the text "PROXIMITY ALERT. UNIDENTIFIED VESSEL DETECTED." Slowly, the cryotubes containing the Marines start to open...
Unknown figure: I am Ludvig Eriksen. I am a Hyperdyne Systems 252-E Synthetic. I worked as a surgeon on Sevastopol Station. After an alien creature murdered all of its inhabitants, I was the only one who escaped.
The Synthetic pauses for a moment. He sighs.
Ludvig: I am Ludvig Eriksen. I am a Hyperdyne Systems 252-E Synthetic. I worked as a surgeon on Sevastopol Station. After an alien creature murdered all of its inhabitants, I was the only one who...
Ludvig pauses, and looks out of the window that gives a view of the black, empty void of space. No, not empty. Some distance away, a vessel is visible, making its way through space.
The Marines start to wake up. Lieutenant Ellsworth is the first to leave his cryotube.
Ellsworth: On your feet, Marines. Listen up. We've just intercepted an unidentified short-range ambulance shuttle. We're bringing it onboard. There might be hostiles, so get your gear and meet me in the cargo bay in 10 mikes.
Weapons: M41A Pulse Rifle, M240 Incinerator Unit, 88 Mod 4 Combat Pistol, M40 HEDP Grenade (6 of them).
Bio: A veteran member of Bravo Squad, Raines have served with the team since its founding, and is respected by both superiors and new recruits. In Bravo's most recent operation, the Staff Sergeant of the squad was killed by raiders, and, much to the dismay of his fellow Corporals, Raines was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, now serving as the second-in-command of Lieutenant Ellsworth. While Ellsworth takes a harsh and serious tone against his soldiers, Raines is more laid-back and casual, trying his best to be friendly against Marines below his rank.
After a few minutes, Raines comes out of the shuttle.
Raines: Well, no one is going to believe this, but this shuttle was launched from Sevastopol Station, fortyfive years ago. That's the only thing I am sure of. Get the engineers here, they might be able to decrypt the data logs.
Bio: Tanner was promoted to Private First Class right before this mission. He has served with Bravo for a little more than a year now, acting as the squad's technician, carrying an M314 Motion Tracker and a tech kit.
I am Sauron190, RPer and recent exile from the Destiny RP forums, for reasons I will divulge if necessary. I wish to join your merry band, as a test for a character I am designing for this larger RP wiki, which a friend recommended to me. How does you go about such a process?)
(Hiya, man. Can't say I'm not surprised to see you here. Hell, I'm shocked. But since you're here now, let's condsider it a fresh slate, eh? Well, first thing's first, please use parantheses when talking out of RP. Second, feel free to visit our discussion threads.
Also, I'd like to introduce you to Stars our resident space pirate. Since almost everyone else is European or Indian, Stars and I are the only ones on at this time. It gets tricky at times, but you'll get used to it.)
(Well, CT (the creator of this RP) gave out a list of equipment available at the top. I'm not actually invested in this RP as of yet, but if you want to be I'd use the others' character card posts for reference. You may see some familiar faces around here in the future.)
Hello, denizens of this cool-sounding place!
I am Sauron190, RPer and recent exile from the Destiny RP forums, for reasons I will divulge if necessary. I wish to join your merry band, as a test for a character I am designing for this larger RP wiki, which a friend recommended to me. How does you go about such a process?
(Heh. They know all about what you did. Some of them even followed it live.)
(Hey, Sauron. Welcome to Bravo's Adventures. As Red said, we already know everything about you. I was even among the people who followed the argument as it was happening. But, let's not discuss this here. We have the discussion thread for that.)
Ludvig sits down next to Raines and shakes his hand.
Ludvig: A pleasure to meet you, Sergeant Raines.
Hearing the marine ask him about Sevastopol, his face turns grim.
Ludvig: Fourty-five years ago... I was a surgeon in San Cristobal medical centre, the station's hospital. In that year, the station fell to chaos. Scavengers looted everything they could find, raiders murdered other inhabitants... It was terrible. But that was not the worst thing. There was another thing. A large creature that killed people as if it was nothing. We could not kill it, no matter what we tried.
Ludvig: I banded up with a couple of survivors. However, in the end, as the station's gravity stabilisers failed, only I managed to get onto the ambulance shuttle. As far as I know, I was the only one to escape.
Ludvig: It was about twice the size of a human, black, with a long tail and an elongated skull. It bled some kind of green-coloured acid. It also had some kind of smaller mouth within its mouth, which it used to... To decapacitate some of its victims.
Ellsworth looks at Raines, before turning his attention back to Ludvig.
Ellsworth: Well, Eriksen, it looks like you ran into a Xenomorph. The USCM encountered them on LV-426 three years ago, when they wiped out an entire colony. We haven't encountered this species again since that incident, but Weyland-Yutani seems to be particularly interested in finding more of them.
He stands up.
Ellsworth: Gentlemen, we'll have a briefing at the hangar in ten minutes. Don't be late.
Ludvig: Hello again. I was wondering. Back in my time, there were experimental combat training modules. They were very rudimentary, and they didn't always work. Have there been any changes to that since then?
Bishop: Yes, actually. These days, they work like a charm.
Bishop: Let me guess. You want one of those installed, don't you?
Ludvig: That is indeed what I wanted to ask. It doesn't seem like my expertise as a surgeon would be of any use here.
Bishop: Very well, then. Follow me.
The two Synthetics walk to the Engineering deck, where Bishop rummages through some drawers and boxes. Eventually, he finds what he was looking for, a black polymere case, and opens it so that Ludvig can see its contents, which consist of a selection of data chips, apparently each holding a different set of skills.
After a few minutes, the last Marines arrive at the hangar, and Ellsworth begins his briefing
Ellsworth: Alright, listen up. Since I didn't have time to brief you before, I'll do it now. We're headed to the planet LV-573 to investigate a distress call sent out two weeks ago from the colony of Averill's Wealth. Averill's Wealth is located in the mountainous region of LV-573 and we suspect that rebels from the Union of Progressive Peoples may be involved in the attack. We'll take a dropship and an APC to the surface and investigate the structures. You have nine hours to load the ordnance onto the dropship, so hurry up. Any questions?
As Ludvig powers himself down, Bishop opens up a piece of skin on the back of Ludvig's skull, revealing a port. He puts the data chip into it, and waits for a while as the data is transferred to Ludvig's datacores.
After a couple of minutes, he removes the chip from the port, puts the skin back in place, and turns Ludvig back on.
Ludvig: Thank you, Bishop.
Ludvig shakes Bishop's hand, before heading to the briefing room, joining the Marines.
Ludvig walks over to the armoury and grabs the nearest weapon he can find, which is an M39 Submachine Gun. He also grabs a battle dress uniform, but decides to leave the helmet. A Marine looks at him. His tag reveals that it's Samuel Cooper.
Cooper: You're not taking the helmet?
Ludvig: Believe me, with what we're fighting, it will not matter much if I am wearing that helmet or not.
Raines: I wouldn't count on it. Those rebels have most possibly killed the civilians at Averill's Wealth or, hopefully, taken them captive. As I said, don't count on it. Better be prepared to not see any live friendlies down there.
After loading his Pulse Rifle and grabbing a few grenades, Raines continues to talk.
Raines: Because of the situation, Ellsworth has given permission to fire on sight of any possible enemy.
Marlowe: So we go in guns blazing?
Raines: No Marlowe, we will attempt to approach the colony under stealth and take the enemy by surprise. WIth a little luck, we might pull this op off without casualities.
Raines proceeds to take a modified Incinerator Unit from a rack and fuels it.
Raines: Of course, there is a slight chance that it isn't rebels behind the signal. As of now, our priority target is to locate the cause of the distress call, and then try to establish contact with any civilians in the area. It is unlikely that there will be any friendlies if we are correct about the cause of the signal, but you never know, do you?
Raines loads his Combat Pistol and holsters it.
Raines: One final thing. For those of you that don't know, Ludvig Eriksen, our wayward synthetic, will come with us on the op.
Raines gestures towards Ludvig.
Reilly: You sure that he won't be blown to bits right away, sarge?
Raines: Yes Reilly, I am sure of it. Bishop just installed a combat program in him. He should keep up with us just fine. Archer, unless you have anything against having a Synthetic in your team, Ludvig is with you.
Archer: Not at all sir. It'll be interesting to see what he can do on the battlefield.
Raines: Alright then. If you people are done here, we load up in the APC in twenty minutes. Any questions?
None of the Marines says anything.
Raines: Very well. As I said, APC, twenty minutes. Don't be late.
Tanner grabs a Pulse Rifle from the rifles storage locker before picking up his Motion Tracker. He then holsters his Combat Pistol.
Tanner: Let's go!
20 minutes later...
The Marines march towards the APC driven by Bishop. Archer opens the APC's side door, allowing the rest of the Marines to enter the transport. Once everyone is aboard, Bishop drives the APC into the Cheyenne dropship's payload bay.
Bio: Brennan served in the Colonial Marine Corps as a dropship pilot for years before being transferred to Bravo, following their previous pilot's death. Although being a skilled pilot who will immediately follow Ellsworth's orders, his jaded, bitter personality has made him disliked among Marines.
Ellsworth (COM): Roger that. We're approaching the main building.
The APC comes to a halt near the entrance to the main complex of the colony. Perez opens the APC's side door, and the Marines jump out of the transport and take up positions at the gate. Only Ellsworth and Bishop remain inside the vehicle.
Ludvig enters the building. Inside, the furniture has been torn apart. The room is a mess.
The Marines enter and begin securing their position. Meanwhile, Ludvig notices something. Behind an overturned cupboard, there's a shapeless hole in the floor. He looks up. In the ceiling, directly above the hole, is another hole.
Ludvig: Archer, take a look at this! It looks like something melted through the floor. This looks familiar... Oh no.
Suddenly, Ludvig realises the terrible situation he's in. He looks up at Archer, who is now standing next to him.
Raines: Cooper, Foulke, take point. Rest of you, behind me.
The team proceeds up to the second level, only to find it empty of life, with nothing but torn-apart furniture and blood stains in the room. As they enter the third level, however, they see a horrific sight. Strewn across the room is six mutilated corpses, each of them battered and maimed beyond recognition. Once they take a closer look, it becomes apparent to Bravo that some of the victims have seemingly gotten their guts ripped out, with huge pools of blood in the whole room.
Bishop looks through the small window on the front of the APC. In the distance, he can see a group of dark clouds, indicating that a storm is coming. However, he also spots something else. A trio of black, dog-like creatures, jumping from rooftop to rooftop...
Perez approaches one of the windows and looks at the streets below. Suddenly, a black, blade-tipped tail reaches down from the roof of the building, breaking the glass and impaling Perez. A loud hiss is heard, and the Marine is violently pulled through the window, leaving only her SHARP rifle behind.
Raines sprints towards the window and looks out of it. Other than large amounts of blood on the walls surrounding the window, there is no sign of the Marine. Then, Raines hears a loud screech above himself. Looking up, he sees a shadowed creature on the roof, tearing into Perez's body with long claws and a fanged mouth. Raines reaches for the SHARP rifle, but before he can get it, the creature suddenly releases its grip on Perez, letting her corpse fall to the ground. Diving inside again to avoid the falling body, Raines manages to get the SHARP rifle. Then, with a crack, the body hits the street. Raines looks up again, and is about to fire the SHARP when he realises that the creature is gone.
At the end of the corridor, there is a security hatch. Harper slowly walks towards the hatch, but the motion tracker shows no movement. Eventually, he reaches the hatch.
Slowly, he reaches out for the override lever. He pulls it, and the hatch slides open with a hiss. Staring directly at him, at mere inches from his face, there is a Xenomorph. It shrieks, and pulls Harper into the darkness. The mix of screaming and shouting is abruptly cut off when the hatch closes again.
A horde of Xenomorphs sprints down the street, towards the APC.
Ellsworth: Bishop, smoke those things!
Bishop mans the APC's Gatling Cannons and starts firing at the incoming Xenos. The shots rip the creatures to shreds, splattering their acidic blood all over the walls of the nearby buildings. Moments later, all that remains in front of the APC is a giant cloud of smoke.
Bishop: I think I killed all of them, sir. I reccomend we--
Suddenly, a Xenomorph jumps from the smoke and lands on top of the APC. It breaks the small window on the front of the vehicle and reaches down with its arm, grabbing Bishop by his shirt. Ellsworth, who was still sitting in front of the camera controls, pulls out his combat pistol and opens fire on the Xenomorph, tearing the creature's arm off. It hisses loudly and backs off. The acidic blood from its arm lands on Bishop's chest, melting a large portion of the synthetic's fake skin.
Ellsworth: Shit! (COM) Bravo, regroup and return to the APC ASAP! Bugs are all over the colony!
(Oh, Locke. I had already deleted all traces of your character since you appeared to have abandoned the RP. The thing is, because every character in this RP is supposed to be very vulnerable (unlike the invincible ODSTs of Bravo), you either need to be very active or your character must be an NPC so we can control him when you're offline. Should Alexander be an NPC?)
Archer quickly dispatches the Xeno with a burst from his Pulse Rifle, tearing the alien's elongated head apart and splattering its acid blood on the walls. Another Xeno attempts to pounce on Marlowe but is ripped to shreds by the Marine's Smartgun.
As Brennan is sitting in the cockpit, Hamilton is standing by the open load bay, shotgun in hand.
Brennan: So, how long've you served?
Hamilton: Five years. Never got through advanced pilot courses, so I settled for co. You?
Brennan: Nine. Always had a knack for vehicles. Aerial seemed the way to go.
Hamilton turns to face Brennan.
Hamilton: You know, I don't get this op. Why not just send a recon team and --
Brennan: Shit! get down!
Hamilton drops to the floor as Brennan draws his VP78, firing a round into the misshapen quadruped which had been about to leap from the Cheyenne's roof. It struck it plainly in the shoulder, making it recoil and sending it scampering off, back onto the roof.
Brennan: Bloody Hell!
Brennan smacked the button to close the loading bay door, as Hamilton stood up and cautiously backed away from it.

Raines (COM): We are leaving the building now, Archer. We'll get there, in about three minutes, maybe?
As Team One exits the building, a pair of Xenomorphs crawls up on the street from an open grate. Raines quickly unholsters his Incinerator and sends a stream of fire at the aliens. The monsters drops to the ground, writhing and screaming.
Marlowe: Clearing a way for the Sarge. Stay there.
A horde of Xenomorphs approaches the vehicle.
Marlowe: Come on, you fuckers! Get some!
He opens fire with his Smartgun, and the aliens start falling in a matter of seconds. But they just keep coming. Archer peeks out of the APC.
Archer: Marlowe, get your ass in here now!
The Xenomorphs start coming from all sides. Marlowe turns his Smartgun to the right but is immediately pinned to the ground by a Xeno. The alien opens its mouth, revealing a smaller jaw which it uses to tear the Marine's head apart. Horrified, Archer closes the APC's door.
Suddenly, the Xenomorphs assaulting the APC are caught in a stream of fire, burning them alive. As Team One closes in on the APC, Raines and Cooper continues to lay down fire on the Xenos with their Incinerator Units. Any stragglers are picked off by Foulke and her Smartgun.
Brennan stares up at the Cheyenne's roof in silence, as a series of clangs indicates that something is still on it. It stops suddenly.
Brennan (hushed): I think we're--
He is interrupted by a shrill screech rings from the roof. It continues, before fading slowly. Moments later, scurries are heard from around the pad, followed by the clangs resuming - their number indicating that the first creature was no longer alone.
Reilly makes his way to the front of the APC and sees Bishop, damaged by the Xenomorph's blood, sitting in front of the controls.
Reilly: Can you drive?
Bishop: No.. I.. I don't think I can.
Reilly: I'll do it.
Reilly takes Bishop's place and starts the APC. Moments later, the landing pad and the Cheyenne come into view.
Tanner: Movement on the Motion Tracker!
As the APC approaches the dropship, a Xenomorph jumps on top of it and uses its tail to impale Reilly while he is driving. His corpse falls on the controls, sending the vehicle speeding towards a cliff edge.
Tanner: Oh, shit!
Archer: Let's get the hell out of here! Go, go!
Archer opens the APC's side door, and the Marines and the damaged Bishop jump out seconds before the vehicle falls off the cliff and lands upside down in the canyon below.
Ellsworth (COM): Brennan, the APC is gone and we have bugs on our tail! Start lowering the ramp now!
The Cheyenne lifts slightly, turning towards the horde of Xenomorphs. A single unguided missile fires into the crowd and scatters those Xenos fortunate enough to be without its blast. The Cheyenne promptly lands and the boarding ramp begins to lower.
Brennan (muttering, to Hamilton): Remember, those things'll want to get in, so blast them till the squad arrives.
Hamilton responds with a nod and stares down the sight of his shotgun, as the ramp lowers further.
As the ramp touches the ground, a horde of Xenomorphs drops down from the roof of the Cheyenne, and Hamilton opens fire with his shotgun. Meanwhile, the rest of the Marines approach the landing pad, but Ellsworth trips and is taken away by a Xeno Runner, while the others manage to reach the dropship safely just as Hamilton finishes taking out the aliens.
Brennan punches a button and the ramp rises with a whir. A Runner, previously hidden, attempts to leap into the Cheyenne, but is pinned by the ramp against the ceiling. Hamilton darts forward and fires his shotgun twice into the Xeno's deformed, doglike face. The Xeno is knocked backwards and the ramp closes against the roof with a clang.
Raines slowly sits up, coming to grips with that he is the highest ranking officer now.
Raines: We were sent here to find out what was going on on this damned planet. Now, Perez and Harper are dead, and Ellsworth has been taken by those, those things. Officially, our mission would be over. But we can't let these monsters take over the place, and neither can we leave Ellsworth behind. We stay, and we fight.
Raines stands up and heads over to the cockpit.
Raines: Brennan, I want to you to do a recon on the area. Fly over the colony and see if there's any survivors or anything we could use against these Xenos.
The Cheyenne flies over a tall building and a Xeno suddenly lands on the cockpit window, but Brennan manages to shake the alien off. As the Marines turn their attention back to the searchlights, they realise that they are now over a forest. Tanner spots something among the trees.
Tanner: Hey, you see that? Looks like part of a ship.
The Marines start walking down the corridors, with Tanner and Cooper leading the way. As they head deeper into the ship, they come across several destroyed labs and the walls become filled with some kind of solidified resin.
Raines: You're saying these spider things, they are what creates those monsters?
Raines looks down at Archer, and then at Ludvig.
Raines (whispering): I'm sorry, Matthew.
Raines draws his Pulse Rifle and fires ten bullets into Archer's head, causing it to turn into a bloody mess. Raines then walks up to Harper's cocooned body and shoots him twice. Raines finally turns to Ellsworth.
Raines (whispering): Please forgive me LT.
Raines fires his remaining magazine into Ellsworth's body.
Ludvig: Well, I would make sure the Facehugger is dead first, so Archer doesn't hatch another Alien. Then...
Ludvig considers for a moment.
Ludvig: We could try and kill the source of all this. Judging by how this hive was built and the fact that there are eggs everywhere, my best guess would be that they have some sort of Queen. It would explain the shriek we heard earlier.
The Marines arrive at what seems to be the mess hall of the ship. There are huge blood stains on the floor, and several alien eggs are on the tables. Suddenly, a strange noise grabs the Marines' attention. On the other side of the room, sitting in a biomechanical "throne", is the Alien Queen. Her egg sac is massive, and her legs are folded up under her body. She turns her crown-like head towards the Marines and releases another terrifying shriek.
The Queen hisses loudly, as if trying to call for her guards. Moments later, a trio of Xenos enters the room and charges at the Marines. However, they are quickly taken out by Ludvig and Wolf, angering the Queen.
Tanner: I think it's time to take out that bitch!
Tanner opens fire with the SHARP rifle and manages to knock the Queen off her throne. She frantically swings her arms in the air, hissing, before she is hit by a grenade from Wolf's Pulse Rifle, separating her from the egg sac. She is now able to move.
Just as Raines manages to pin the Queen to a wall, both of his Incinerators run out of ammo. The Queen seizes the opportunity and charges at the Marines, forcing them to retreat through the dark halls of the ship whilst firing their weapons.
Cooper throws a fresh can of fuel to Raines, and he reloads his Incinerator Unit while continuing his sprint. The Marines soon manages to get behind cover in a corridor, and they hear as the Queen slowly follows them.
Raines (whispering): Cooper. On me. Lets torch this monster.
The two Marines jump out of cover and releases a stream of fire from their flamethrowers. The Queen hisses and shrieks, but eventually it retreats, driven away by the inferno created by the Marines.
(A tanner and a wolf, 2 natural enemies, now working together to survive the bigger predator they both fear. Will the tanner go back to trying to take the wolfs pelt when this is over? will they get out of this alive? will they continue to be allies after this? find out in the next episode of, Aliens: Bug Hunt- Hear at Bravos Adventures.)
As the Queen enters the centre of the clearing, the Cheyenne swivels to aim at her. Wagner's The Ride of the Valkyries blasting, Brennan fires a salvo of missiles from the Cheyenne's weapons bays. When the last one has fired, the area the Queen was in is left in a cloud of dust. Brennan, turning down the music, fires the chaingun blindly into the cloud.
Ludvig: It would seem they impregnate their victims, judging by the fact that they come from eggs and immediately try to find someone to latch onto. It would explain why they hung Ellsworth and Harper on the wall.
Bishop: If we get Cooper back to the Almayer, and put him in a cryo-pod, it should halt the impregnation process until we find the necessary tools to safely extract the alien from him. What do you think, Sergeant Raines?
As the Cheyenne lifts off, a Xenomorph jumps at Hamilton, knocking him down. However, before it can tear him apart, Hamilton shoves his shotgun into the Xeno's mouth and fires. Acid blood sprays all around as the Xenomorph's head explodes. Meanwhile, more Xenos claws their way up the swiftly closing ramp, but are met with a hail of bullets from Foulke's Smartgun and Raines' Pulse Rifle. Not a single Xenomorph manages to reach the remaining Marines.
Hamilton leaves the Cheyenne and returns, minutes later, operating a Power Loader fitted with wide scoops instead of claws. He lumbers over to the mass of dead Xenomorphs on the Cheyenne and picks up a load, before walking towards an airlock, opening it and depositing the pile of bodies there. He repeats this, with a smaller mass of Xenomorph bodies, before closing the inner airlock and opening the outer one.
