(if I where to change ancient history, (this will take awhile) in the past their where corrupt rulers who denied their people any education other then what they wanted them to know, this is because if the people where well educated they will figure out that he is a very horrible man to keep in power over the people and that they can have a much better leader, that they them selves can do better, and they will use their education to overthrow him and get someone in power who will prosper the people instead of them selves. This hear is the reason why the bronze age and iron age continued a few thousand years when during the stone age they could have advanced to the point of the 21st century in just 400 years. I could make sure these people who don't let their people learn just to keep them from realizing they need a better leader from coming into power, and have some one in power who is not ashamed of how he rules the people and believes education will bring prosperity. That way beings will advance in technology at a normal speed.)
A soldier in officer's uniform stands in front of the troops, the latter are gathered on bleachers near a firing range. The Officer looks at each and every cadet in front of her and then begins to speak.
Commander Paquet: Good day, I'm Commander Emma Paquet. I'm going to be the one that teaches you spineless worms to crawl, walk, eat, talk, shoot, sleep, breath, blink, and most importantly live. Understood?
Cadets: Ma'am, yes, ma'am.
Paquet: Good. Now if you want to last two days out there, out in the cold, out in the battle, out in Innie territory, you're going to need to know how to fire your weapon. Today, that is what you're doing.
She points to a cadet.
Paquet: You, cadet.
Cadet: Ma'am, yes Ma'am
Paquet: You look confident. Get down here and fire the rifle.
The cadet leaves the bleachers and goes up to the range. He picks up the rifle and aims down the sights.
Paquet: Alright, Fire.
The cadet pulls the trigger but nothing happens.
Paquet: What's your name, son?
Wilkins: Wilkins, ma'am.
Paquet: Wilkins, you're a dumb-ass. The safety's on. Next please!
Qualifications: I was training to be a commercial pilot, but when I heard about the "Insurrection" I felt I should do something to stop them. I mean, the number of hostage situations and the like onboard jets now, It's almost safer to fly in the military.
(If we're an Airborne unit, we would need a pilot, right? If not, I'll change him to infantry.)
Meanwhile in OCS, Hawkins and several other recruits are sitting around a holo table, sending fake soldiers and vehicles towards fake enemies on the hologram, Hawkins quickly types a command and a Longsword flies in, destroying a squad of Innies, Anson grins because of this.
Teacher: You will all have to face each other eventually, learn from each other to effectively destroy your opponent.
Hawkins quickly slides his hands forward, several Pelicans fly towards the battlefield, straight over a minor infantry battle, Rangers jump out of the Pelicans and use their jet packs to maneuver themselves into the conflict, obliterating the remaining enemies. The table turns off.
Qualifications: I had finished my course in the Mira Technology College, with no idea what to do next. So when I heard about this "Insurrection", I decided it would be best to put my skills to use with the UNSC. I-- here's my qualifications. I did. Basic Physics, and Electrical Engineering. But my main course was electromechanical engineering. I would be willing to.
Vessel Of War wrote: Sergeant Blake: Cadet Mitchell, who gave you authorisation to take that?
(Seriously Locke, they're learning, not fully trained Romeos.)
(I know. Did you ever hear the story of the Second Boer War?)
(You should, because it was a major british defeat.)
(What happened was the Boers were accurate civillian marksmen with rifles that have to stay hidden. Mitchell has been hunting for his food for a long time. He's done it up to 500 meters. on ranges with stationary targets, 800. 1500 and up is a bit of a stretch, but he'll mis a bunch.)
Mitchell: I'm going to assume you know what I'm holding.
Mitchell calibrates the optics.
Mitchell: Now, this is 1500 meters, right? No way to hit a moving target from here.
Mitchell hits the button to start the moving targets, waits, and fires. A target goes down.
Mitchell: It's possible. What you do is calculate a point in front of your target, and shoot at that point.
Mitchell shoots another target.
Mitchell: To find that point, you need to figure out how fast your target is moving, how far away you are, your muzzle velocity, and that's it. The formula is Distance/muzzle velocity=time to target. Then, you figure out how far it will go in that time.
Mitchell shoots another target.
Mitchell: Then you aim there, meshing it with all the other calculations like windage and drop, and you shouldn't miss.
Aaron takes his hand off his gun, then raises it to his head flicks two fingers foward - the silent motion for 'Move In'. A couple of Insurrectionists move down the corridor, crouched. Their MA37s constantly swept the corridor.
Aaron (whispering, COM): We're almost in position. Bravo team?
Fireteam Bravo Leader (COM): We're here!
One of the two Insurrectionist soldiers pushes a door open, and glances through.
Innie (whispering): This is it, boss.
The three soldiers move through the door, revealing a massive vault.
Aaron (COM): Bravo, we're in position. Ready when you are.
Fireteam Bravo Leader (COM): Roger, going on my mark... MARK!
Through COMs, the sound of a gun cocking, and then numerous screams can be heard.
Bravo Leader (COM): Everybody on your knees... (he trails off, as he deactivates his COM)
The members of Fireteam Alpha wait in silence, hoping for the all clear.
Hawkins: We have a slight problem, and now we have a time limit, I need these cadets training very fast, a new Innsurectionist organization is rising up and our company, Legion is tasked with wiping the floor with their faces.
The security guards open fire on the two soldiers, killing them.
Aaron had left his MA37 on the floor while loading gold, so all he had to hand was a gold ingot from the stash. The lobbed it at the head of one of the guards, and dived to the right, grabbing his MA37.
Hawkins: Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to personally welcome you to Legion Company, UNSC Army Airborne Rangers, although some of you may be moving on to different training. I have some thing's I would like to go over, first off PT will be from 1600 to 2000, under my watch. In Legion company, we are Third platoon, Centurians is our name, and here I am your God, and the platoon sergeant, who Sergeant Mendeloza will be choosing, is Jesus Christ, your lord and savior. As for squads, squad leaders are the Holy Spirit, you will respect the chain of command. When you are finished trained, we will have four squads, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, and 3-4 possibly up for nicknames later. That means eight fire team leaders and four squad leaders, all who will be chosen when you finish your training, work hard cadets and you will be awarded.
Hawkins looks around at the cadets, examining them.
Rskde wrote: ( Locke, you gotta respond, we need you! Also, Commando, I can make up a Cadet for you and you can just go along with everyone else during training, you could also be the headmaster of the camp )
(Only civilians? If ODSTs are available then I can use Rick Jones. He was born in 2487)
Name: Allen Capone
Homeworld: Eridanus II (For Chief !!)
Qualifications: His brother was killed during an Insurrectionists (Hope I spelled it correct). He wantedto avenge his brotherby fighting against the Insurrectionists. For that, he wished of joining the UNSCDF.
Hawkins: Oh, I'm just gonna empty them out, Sergeant.
Wood: Oh shit.
Hawkins starts the run at a steady pace, but even that could be too much to handle for the Cadet's who had just eaten some high-in-fat food, Wood starts to feel sick as they run around the PT course in formation.
Hawkins: I wanna be an Airborne Ranger! Sing it with me! You look sick, maybe you should take a fucking break! That's not a Ranger face that's a pussy face!
These are just some examples of thing's Hawkins yells at them.
Mendeloza: This here is the assault course: walls, wire, ropes, trenches, swamps and climbing frames all in one. Blake, care to demonstrate?
Blake: Yes, sir.
After he makes his way to the start, Blake climbs along the ground, under barbed wire, before crossing a fast stream. He then makes his way across a waist-high swamp, and climbs over a shoulder-high wall. He swings across to the other side, and jumps, rolling on the ground. He enters a trench, and then jumps out, running towards another, avoiding barbed wire.
Mendeloza: So far, easy, right?
Blake enters a lake, and swims to the other side.
Mendeloza: And I want four of that from each of you. Do it fast enough, you might set a record.
(If we're Rangers, I suppose we just need to be able to shoot things, not have an engineer, eh?)
